Prize winner to read at Spken Ink's next event
Burnaby Writers’ Society Spoken Ink reading series will be having special guest Leslie Michel Beckmann read at their meeting on Feb. 21 at La Fontana Caffe. Beckmann is an environmental scientist and her work includes the short story, “Tortfeasor” which was a prize-winner in the 2011 Canada Writes competition for Creative Non-Fiction, and her short-story, “Fingerling” was shortlisted for the Malahat Review’s 2012 Open Season award for Creative Non-Fiction. Spoken Ink is a reading series presented by the Burnaby Writers’ Society on the third Tuesday of each month. The Feb. 21 event has open mic sign-up starting at 7:30 p.m. and reading starts at 8 p.m. La Fontana is at 101-3701 East Hastings St.
