Bosa gets into the hotel business
Bosa Properties Inc. has confirmed it is getting into the hotel business starting with the Sovereign tower on the northeast corner of Kingsway and Willingdon.
"That is the case," said Bosa's vice-president of sales and marketing, Daryl Simpson.
He said the company is finalizing paperwork with the hotel brand it has retained, and will release more details about the new hotel—including its name—in two or three weeks.
At 45 storeys, the Sovereign will be Burnaby's tallest highrise building, including 202 residential units on 26 storeys, 169 hotel rooms over 13 storeys, three mechanical levels and a three-storey retail podium.
The expected completion date is early 2014.

Burnaby blogger Ronald Jack attended a Sovereign realtor event last Tuesday where he was told that, instead of finding a tenant, Bosa will maintain ownership of the new hotel under the titular management of an American hotel chain.
He was told Burnaby residents will be "pleasantly surprised" when they learn which brand name is coming to town.
