New West police nab bank robber suspect
New Westminster police arrested a man last Friday (Jan. 27) following a bank robbery who is believed to have been responsible for two other bank robberies in Burnaby and five in Edmonton.
Police said they were called to the Bank of Montreal on 10th Street at 1:51 p.m. where staff said a man had produced a note, threatened to have a gun and demanded cash. Shortly afterward, they found a man matching the description and the money.
New Westminster police have recommended charges against Eldon Peters and his custody was transferred to Burnaby RCMP, which has taken control of the overall investigation.
