Burnaby RCMP officer charged with assault
A Burnaby RCMP officer has been charged with assault in connection with an off-duty incident at the parking lot of a Langley shopping mall on Dec. 31.
Const. Harinder Paul Singh Pabla, an officer with 16 years of service with the RCMP, faces one count of assault and is currently suspended from duty. The RCMP are also conducting a parallel Code of Conduct investigation which is ongoing.
"RCMP members are accountable for their actions both on and off duty," said Supt. Derren Lench, operations officer and assistant officer-in-charge for the Burnaby RCMP detachment. "Like anyone else that has been charged with an offence, he will have the opportunity to respond to the charge in court."
Pabla has been served a summons to appear in court in Surrey, B.C. on July 3.
