Burnaby Zellers workers win $1M in Lotto Max draw
A group of co-workers at Brentwood mall's Zellers store won $1 million in a Lotto Max draw recently.
The money couldn't come at a better time.
“There has been plenty of high fiving and celebration at the store lately,” said group trustee Doris Knoll, in a press release. “This is such good news. We had been told a couple of months ago that our store would be closing next March.”
All but two members of the 24-person group work at Zellers, with one working at a store across the street and another being a former employee of the store who continues to play. Each member will win $41,666.67.
“I organize buying the tickets and everyone is always asking me when we are going to win,” said Knoll. “Well now we know. But I have a feeling they’re not going to stop.”
The winners plans for the money varied, from investing to vacations to new cars.
“Yes, we are all going to keep working,” said Knoll. “And yes, we have already bought our tickets for this weeks’ draw.”
