Burnaby RCMP to host fraud-prevention presentations
Burnaby RCMP want to teach people how to avoid becoming victims of scams and frauds.
To that end, it's hosting four presentations at Burnaby community centres: Tuesday, Sept. 11, 10:30 a.m. at Cameron Recreation Complex; Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m. at Confederation Recreation Complex; Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1:30 p.m. at Bonsor Recreation Complex; and Thursday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m. at Edmonds Community Centre.
The presentations will be aimed at seniors, to help prevent them being taken advantage of fraudsters. Presenters are experienced fraud investigators with the Burnaby RCMP's Economic Crime Unit. Topics covered will include telemarketing, identity theft, personation and the financial abuse of seniors.
