Man foils armed robbery attempt in Burnaby
A man shopping for a ring for his girlfriend at Lougheed Mall helped foil a robbery attempt by a machete-wielding suspect Friday.
At about 3 p.m. Oct. 5, a lone male entered Augustun Jewellers in the Burnaby mall brandishing a machete and demanding the gold from the display cases, say Burnaby RCMP.
The male customer in the store reacted quickly and subdued the suspect, holding him until police arrived.
The suspect, a male youth, was taken into custody and was being held on charges of armed robbery.
There were no injuries.
