Two dead in Burnaby hotel shooting
Two males are confirmed dead after a shooting at the Executive Inn Hotel and Conference Centre in Burnaby early Monday afternoon.
Police were called to the hotel on Lougheed Highway, just west of Madison Avenue, where photos posted to Twitter showed shattered glass in front of the hotel lobby.
Media reports identified the victims as gangster Sukh Dhak, who was on trial for drug trafficking, and his bodyguard Thomas Mantel.
Dhak's brother Gurmit was shot to death in a black BMW SUV at Metrotown mall in October 2010.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case and IHIT Sgt. Jennifer Pound asked that anyone with information on the case call 1-888-551-4448.
