Burnaby RCMP is seeking potential witnesses to a single vehicle crash that happened early on the morning of Jan. 11 on Canada Way near Burris Street.

Traffic officers who were conducting speed enforcement in the area at the time saw a vehicle heading eastbound at high speed. The vehicle lost control while cornering and struck a utility pole on Canada Way near Rayside Avenue.

The vehicle sustained severe damage and the driver was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital with head injuries.

Several other vehicles were in the area at the time and one driver stopped briefly to help officers at the scene but left shortly afterwards. Anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen the accident or stopped at the scene, is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP Traffic Section at 604-294-7922.
