Three-vehicle accident sends six to hospital
A three-vehicle accident shut down the intersection of Kingsway and Royal Oak Saturday night, sending six people to hospital.
The crash happened at about 9:50 p.m. "The initial indications suggest speed was a factor," said Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Dave Reid.
There were 10 occupants in the three vehicles, which included a cab, and six were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Reid said.
People not wearing their seatbelts accounted for most of the injuries.
"There were multiple head smashes on the interior windows of the cab," which had up to five occupants, he said. One of the investigators said, "this is a classic example of 'wear your seatbelt.'"
The investigation continues.
