Man sought for assault of pregnant woman at Metrotown station comes forward
The wheelchair-bound man being sought in connection with the assault of a pregnant woman at Metrotown SkyTrain station last month has come forward as a result of media attention, says Transit Police.
The man has provided a statement to police. "New information has been gathered which now broadens the scope of this active investigation," said Transit Police in a press release Thursday.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Feb. 20 when a man in an electric wheelchair entered an elevator and is alleged to have run over the feet of one of two women already inside with their babies in strollers.
An argument ensued which led to an exchange of slaps and punches, ending with the man allegedly striking the woman, who was seven months pregnant, numerous times in the head and face before leaving the area.
The woman was treated in hospital for cuts, bruises and scratches to her face, hands and leg before being released.
