Rivers Day moves to Burnaby Village Sunday
World Rivers Day celebrations will take over Burnaby Village Museum on Sunday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Village, home to the ecologically significant Deer Lake Brook, will host the event which was the brainchild of Burnaby resident Mark Angelo, who recently retired from BCIT's Rivers Institute. This year, World Rivers Day will be marked by people in more than 60 countries.
The City of Burnaby's involvement is fitting as it has a strong record of respecting its waterways, even encouraging developers to include daylighting of streams in their projects.
At Burnaby Village on Sunday, the event will include live entertainment, storytelling, children's activities and live raptor demonstrations. Admission to the site is free, while carousel rides are $2.21.
