VANCOUVER - Vancouver police say a 33-year-old woman found dead at Stanley Park was the victim of a targeted crime.

Sgt. Randy Fincham says Thi Yen Le of Surrey, B.C., was known to police.

Officers were called to Brockton Oval, just east of the Vancouver Aquarium, at about 6 a.m.

Fincham says the victim was found in medical distress and then died.

The death was the city's fifth homicide this year, and officers spent much of the day canvassing the area.
