Teachers Strike: Picketers, parents at Vancouver elementary school (VIDEO)

Picketers were joined by B.C. Teachers Federation president Jim Iker on Monday, at Vancouver's Charles Dickens Elementary, on the first day of the province's rotating strikes.

"Our goal is not to be on the picket line," Iker said. "We didn't want to be doing this... we want a deal before the end of June.

"What I'm hoping for (in the next week) is that we start making the necessary progress at the bargaining table, so we get closer to a deal."
