Suspect sought after Burnaby man hurt in Surrey hit-and-run
A 56-year-old Burnaby man is seriously injured and a suspect being sought after a hit-and-run incident in Surrey Monday night.
On June 9 at about 8:15 p.m. the Burnaby resident was riding a motorcycle eastbound in the curb lane of the South Fraser Perimeter Road, east of 136th Street, when he was struck from behind by a grey, Ford pickup truck, say Surrey RCMP.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the pickup stopped and at first got out of the truck but fled the scene before police arrived.
Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is investigating along with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team. Officers are making progress in this investigation and following up on a number of leads.
“We would like to remind the driver involved in this incident that it is never too late to contact our investigators right away and turn himself in,” says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet in a press release. “It is always better to approach the police than have the police approach you.”
Anyone with information on the incident who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
