Burnaby RCMP are asking for the public's help in finding a purse-snatching suspect.

A woman's black Chanel purse was swiped while she was at the food court in Metropolis at Metrotown mall on July 12 at about 8:45 p.m.

While a bystander chased after the suspect, he was assaulted outside the mall near the Target store on Central Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 18 to 21 years old, clean shaven with short brown hair. He was wearing a zip-up hooded sweatshirt with thick two-tone horizontal stripes, blue jeans and white shoes with blue shoelaces.

Anyone with information on the man's identity is asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922, or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
