Let’s license cyclists

Re: Judge orders cyclist to pay $226K (NewsLeader, Feb. 26)

After reading about Mr. Jang’s terrible injuries,  I was more apprehensive about cyclists as I walked today.

I watched as a cyclist almost clipped me as he rode between myself and another pedestrian. Another cyclist rode through a red light. A third one rode on the sidewalk (where he shouldn’t be) the wrong way.

I know not all disobey the rules of the road, but all it takes is one to destroy the qualify of your  life. To not be able to walk would affect my life. Power walking is my major exercise.

Let’s license cyclists, so if any accident occurs between a pedestrian and a cyclist there would be legal recourse.

Perhaps it would lead irresponsible cyclists to become more responsible, if they fear ending up in court.
