Burnaby's Roberts leads York House into semis

Alisha Roberts of Burnaby has led Vancouver's York House Tigers into the semifinals of the B.C. AAA senior girls high school basketball championship in North Vancouver.

Roberts was the game's top point-getter with 20 as the Tigers defeated the Claremont Spartans of Victoria 69-39 in a quarter-final matchup in North Vancouver Thursday.

In an opening-round game Wednesday, the 5-foot-7 guard scored 18 while also contributing nine rebounds as York House beat the Kelowna Owls 80-52.

The Tigers were to battle the Brookswood Bobcats of Langley in the semifinals Friday evening.

Also on Friday, Canada Basketball announced Roberts, who has a scholarship to NCAA Div. 1 Pepperdine University in California for next year, is one of 45 girls invited to a national age group assessment camp in Toronto March 23-25.
