Burnaby’s Abbey Vogt was part of the Simon Fraser University women’s 4x400 metre relay team that came in third at the 2012 Great Northwest Athletic Conference track and field championships in Monmouth, Ore., last weekend.
Vogt teamed with Lindsey Butterworth, Sarah Sawatzky and Michaela Kane for a time of 3:53.43.
Butterworth also won the 1,500 metres at the championship while Sawatzky and Kane came second and third in the 800 metres.
On the men’s side, SFU’s Ryan Brockerville won the steeplechase and Jade Richardson took the discus.
Brockerville ran the final lap in 58 seconds to unseat the two-time defending champion from Alaska Anchorage, Micah Chelimo. Brockerville narrowly defeated the defending champion with a time of 8:47.26, compared to Chelimo’s time of 8:47.33.
