Clan slam Saints on soccer field
It was goals galore in the first half for the Simon Fraser University Clan men's soccer squad on Thursday.
SFU scored five goals in the opening 45 minutes in their 7-1 win over the Saint Martin's Saints in Lacey, Wash. Ryan Dhillon scored twice while Carlo Basso notched his conference-high 12th goal of the season.
The Clan head into the final game of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference season with a 10-1-1 record and 14-1-1 overall. They will continue their road trip by taking on second place Seattle Pacific (6-2-4) on Saturday. SFU clinched first place when the Falcons lost 3-1 to the Western Washington Vikings.
• In women's action at Terry Fox Field, Seattle Pacific downed Simon Fraser 4-0. The Clan conclude their season (1-15 overall, 0-13 in conference play) by playing the Central Washington University Wildcats in Ellensburg, Wash., on Saturday.
• Saint Martin's defeated the visiting Clan 25-22, 25-18, 25-20 in women's volleyball. Burnaby's Madeline Hait had five kills and two blocked shots for the Clan.
SFU is 4-15 on the season and 1-11 in GNAC play. They will be in Monmouth, Ore., Saturday to play the Western Oregon Wolves.
