SFU into NCAA Div. II soccer Elite Eight

It's off to the Elite Eight for the Simon Fraser University men's soccer squad.

The Clan defeated the Grand Canyon University Antelopes 2-1 in Phoenix on Thursday night in the third round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. SFU will take on the University of Incarnate Word from San Antonio Cardinal in the quarter-finals in Phoenix on Saturday. The winner advances to the Final Four in Evans, Ga., Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

Matt Besuschko scored in the first half for Simon Fraser before Grand Canyon answered in the second half. Carlo Basso then scored the winner in the 87th minute on a cross from Chris Bargholz.
