Hastings awarded 2016 Little League championship
The Hastings Community Little League (HCLL), which includes a chunk of North Burnaby in its catchment, will be the host for the 2016 Canadian Little League baseball championship.
The 10-day tournament will be held at Hastings Park, directly across from the PNE in Vancouver, in August 2016.
A news release said preparations are already underway to proceed with a renovation and upgrade of Hastings Field to meet tournament requirements, which will mean the baseball diamonds will get much-needed improvements for the more than 400 children that play there.
HCLL won the 2009 and 2012 Canadian championship and represented Canada both years at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn. This year’s team included five players from its Burnaby catchment area which is north of Lougheed Highway and west of Sperling Avenue.
