Bulldogs, Lions to battle for Burnaby supremacy
The Byrne Creek Bulldogs will face the Burnaby Mountain Lions in the Burnaby/New Westminster senior boys basketball playoffs final at Byrne Creek Friday
The Bulldogs, first-place finishers during the regular season, defeated the New Westminster Hyacks 94-69 in a semifinal matchup Wednesday. The Lions advanced by upsetting the Burnaby South Rebels, who had finished second in league play, 71-66 in the other semifinal.
On Tuesday, New West downed the Moscrop Panthers 67-61 while Mountain took out the Burnaby North Vikings 78-48.
Both the Bulldogs and Lions have berths in the Lower Mainland qualifying tournament for the provincials while the winner of the third-place game between South and New West will get the other berth. Five teams from that tournament will advance to the AAA provincial championship in Langley March 12-16.
