The Centre is named after the Shadbolt family: Doris Shadbolt was a curator and writer, while Jack Shadbolt was a famous Canadian painter and author.
Opened in 1995, the building hosts two theatres, dance studios, pottery studios, music rehearsal rooms, conference rooms, a cafe, and more. Festivals, concerts, arts programs and special events take place year-round at the Centre.
